Afghanistan has clinched a six-wicket victory in the first Twenty20 International against Pakistan at Sharjah Stadium, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first against Afghanistan. The Green Shirts set an easy 93-run target for Afghanistan in the first of the three-match series. Veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi played a crucial role in guiding Afghanistan to triumph.
Just four Pakistani players could make it to the double figure. Imad Wasim, Saim Ayoub, and Tayyab Tahir could offer a miner resistance to the formidable Afghan attack. They made 18, 17, and 16 runs respectively. Nabi took 2-12 and was ably assisted by Mujeeb Ur Rahman (2-9) and pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi (2-13) to restrict Pakistan to 92-9.
Nabi kept his cool with a cautious run-a-ball 38 not out and added 53 for the unbroken fifth wicket with Najibullah Zadran (17 not out) to help Afghanistan overhaul the target in 17.5 overs.
