Actor Imran Abbas is one to talk whenever any debate around patriotism or national narratives starts on social media.
This time around, the actor has advised Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) to learn from the foreign content and produced their own content.
Taking to Facebook, Imran Abbas wrote: “Now finally people have started watching our government owned PTV after many decades post its golden era only because of a foreign content, Ertugal Ghazi, I request higher authorities to keep this viewership intact by producing some quality stuff on its own as well and appoint right/non-political talented people on creative posts and designations.”

He further adds, “Government should immediately take action against all that political appointments , the main reason behind taking PTV to the verge of disaster. Check the statistical graph of viewership over the years and what they have been doing and how creative they have been during this tenure. PTV and ATV, because of terrestrial reach have the highest number of viewers nationwide. They should use this tool as their forte.”
“I am not delving into the pros and cons of showing a foreign content. I am keeping my comments reserved about supporting this serial or vice versa. What I am saying here is that PTV should now learn a lesson that people watch quality stuff regardless and they should produce something of their own too. And that too requires a team of genuinely creative people along with decent budgets,” Abbas explained.
The actor concluded by saying: “Lacking of any of these factors results the kind of substandard productions we are watching on PTV for past many years (post its golden era). Still the best they have is the re-run of PTV classics made at least 25 years back.”
