Security Cell set up to protect foreign nationals
As part of the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) and in order to further beef up the security of the foreigners living in the country, the government has formed ‘Foreign Nationals Security Cell’ in the Interior Ministry’s building for the purpose, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Sources told 24News that the Cell would particularly look after the Chinese nationals living in the country.
The Chinese citizens were particularly confronted with security issues in the aftermath of a terror attack on their compatriots working on Dasu Hydropower Plant in Upper Kohistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in July this year.
At least 12 persons, including nine Chinese engineers and two Frontier Corps personnel, were killed in the incident.
Besides Chinese, people belonging to other nationalities living across the country will also be looked after by the Cell.
