Ishaq Dar, UNGA president discuss multilateral cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met President of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly Dr Khalilur Rahman on the sidelines of UNGA 81 in New York.

Dar congratulated Rahman on assuming the presidency of the General Assembly and assured him of Pakistan’s support and constructive engagement.

The two sides reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism and the central role of the United Nations in addressing global challenges.

They also exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.

Dar expressed confidence in Rahman’s leadership and assured him of Pakistan’s continued engagement in advancing the work of the General Assembly.

Rahman, Bangladesh’s foreign minister, was elected president of the 81st UN General Assembly session in June and formally assumed office when the session opened on Sept. 8.
