Govt cuts petrol by 84 paisas, diesel by Rs2.63 per litre

The federal government has reduced the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel with effect from Sept. 25, according to a Petroleum Division notification issued on Thursday.

The price of high-speed diesel has been cut by Rs2.63 per litre, bringing the new ex-depot price down to Rs412.12 from Rs414.75 per litre.

The price of motor spirit, or petrol, has been reduced by 84 paisas per litre to Rs389.28 from Rs390.12 per litre.

The Petroleum Division said the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority revised the ex-depot prices under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.

It said the price changes were necessitated by global developments, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and other incidentals.
