Pakistan, Denmark agree to boost trade, investment ties

Pakistan and Denmark have agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, with a focus on trade, investment, green transition, energy and business-to-business ties, the Foreign Office said.

The fifth round of bilateral political consultations between the two countries was held in Copenhagen.

The Pakistani delegation was led by Additional Secretary Europe Ambassador Ayesha Ali, while the Danish side was headed by State Secretary for Trade and Investment Ambassador Suzanne Heidlund.

According to the Foreign Office, the two sides conducted a comprehensive review of bilateral relations, including political ties, trade and investment.

They also discussed green transition, energy, people-to-people contacts, consular affairs and multilateral cooperation.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Denmark relations and reiterated their commitment to expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The two countries placed particular emphasis on increasing trade and investment and strengthening business-to-business links.

Pakistan encouraged Danish companies to explore investment opportunities in renewable energy, information technology, infrastructure and logistics.

Investment opportunities in port facilities, mining and minerals, fisheries and sustainable manufacturing were also discussed.

Pakistan appreciated Denmark’s cooperation under the Green Framework Engagement Agreement and its support for the Faisalabad Wastewater Treatment Plant under Strategic Sector Cooperation.

The two sides also discussed measures to promote people-to-people contacts, visa and consular matters, movement of experts and businesspeople, and the possibility of improving air connectivity through direct flights.

Pakistan and Denmark reviewed their cooperation during their concurrent membership of the United Nations Security Council for the 2025-26 term.

The delegations also exchanged views on key regional and global developments.

Both sides agreed to maintain the momentum in bilateral relations and continue close coordination on matters of mutual interest.

The next round of Pakistan-Denmark bilateral political consultations will be held in Pakistan on dates to be mutually agreed.
