A fire broke out in the forest on the outskirts of Kahuta, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
Rescuers and firemen rushed to the site where sources said fire reduced to ashes pine trees and shrubs in parts of the 200-Kanal area.
Efforts are on to prevent the population from the disaster. Reports said earlier in the ongoing month that the forest department declared ‘fire season" from April 16 to July 15 to protect forests and wildlife
During this period of three months, citizens have been barred from carrying saws, knives, matches, cigarette litter and axes in the forests of Margalla, Kotli Sattian, Kahuta, and Kallar Syedan in the four hilly tehsils around Margalla Hills in Islamabad.
During the summer season, fire in the forest of Kahuta has become a routine matter and thousands of small plants of rare species, hundreds of precious trees, insects, animals, and birds have been burnt to ashes.
