Islamic cleric Maulana Sheikh Yousaf Zakhakehl shot dead in Landi Kotal

A religious cleric was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the Zakhakhel Bazaar area of Landi Kotal on Sunday in a targeted attack, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.

According to local reports, Maulana Sheikh Yousaf Zakhakhel was fired upon near the mosque where he served as preacher.

As per the initial reports, Maulana Yousaf suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The attack took place in the Karmana area of the market, causing fear among traders and residents.

The assailants reportedly escaped after opening fire.

Security officials reached the area soon after the incident and began collecting evidence.

An investigation has been launched to determine the motive for the killing and trace those responsible.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
