Nicola Roberts pregnant with first child at 40
English singer Nicola Roberts has revealed she is expecting her first child, sharing the deeply personal milestone with fans on Christmas Day.
The Girls Aloud star, now 40, announced that she is pregnant with her fiancé Mitch Hahn’s baby, marking a brand-new chapter in her life.
The singer unveiled the news on Instagram, posting a beautifully styled photograph that showed off her growing baby bump.
Alongside the image, Nicola confirmed she is already five months pregnant and is expecting to welcome her baby in the spring.
In her emotional message, Nicola wrote:
"Mitch and I have had the most magical Christmas Day sharing the most precious news with our families.
We’ve been keeping a secret. We are five months pregnant! We can’t wait to meet our little one in the spring"
The couple’s happy announcement comes just a year after Nicola and Mitch, 37, got engaged during a romantic getaway to the south of France.
Their engagement quickly became public knowledge when Nicola appeared on stage at Brighton Pride last summer, proudly displaying a striking diamond ring.
Reports later revealed that Mitch had proposed during a holiday in the south of France in July 2024, getting down on one knee in a moment described as intimate and unforgettable. A source speaking to The Sun said:
"Nicola has met her soulmate in Mitch. She couldn’t be happier."
As soon as Nicola shared her pregnancy news, messages of love and excitement poured in from celebrity friends. English singer Rochelle Humes was among the first to comment, writing:
"The best news ever congratulations gang"
British singer Jessie Ware added:
"Amazing babe! Congrats"
Irish model Laura Whitmore also shared her joy, saying:
"Congrats to you both! The best news x"
Nicola’s engagement ring had already caught attention when she performed on stage with fellow Girls Aloud members Cheryl, Nadine Coyle and Kimberley Walsh, flashing the sparkler while celebrating Pride with fans.
Mitch Hahn, who works as an accountant and also plays semi-professional football, was first publicly linked to Nicola when the pair were photographed together at an Elton John concert in June 2022.
He previously played for Essex-based team Grays Athletic and captained the Great Britain squad at the European Maccabi Games held in Israel.
Before finding happiness with Mitch, Nicola’s last known relationship was with Charlie Fennell. The pair were together for six years before splitting at the end of 2013, with Nicola later saying the relationship had "fizzled out".
Earlier still, she endured a deeply distressing experience following a brief relationship with Carl Davies.
After the relationship ended, Nicola was subjected to a prolonged campaign of online harassment. Davies created 35 fake social media accounts and sent thousands of messages over several years, including threats to stab and burn her. Although Nicola never responded, she carefully documented every message and passed them to police.
Davies was initially spared prison but was given a restraining order after being convicted of stalking. He later received a sentence of two years and eight months in jail after admitting to sending death threats to former BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin and threatening to harass her daughter.
Now, with a wedding ahead and a baby on the way, Nicola’s announcement signals a powerful new beginning, one filled with hope, joy and the promise of a long-awaited happy ever after.
