Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday telephoned Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and congratulated him on his recovery from coronavirus, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

General Bajwa advised Sheikh Rashid to take complete rest for two weeks.

In response, Sheikh Rashid thanked the Army Chief for his call and said he will always remember the efforts General Sahab had made for his treatment at the hospital.

Sheikh Rashid said the arrangements at the Military Combined Hospital in Rawalpindi were the best and the staff took great care of him.

Earlier in the day, Sheikh Rashid was discharged from hospital. He showered praises on the staff of the Combined Military Hospital Rawalpindi before leaving for home. Dozens of his supporters were present there to welcome the minister.

Sheikh Rashid has been under treatment at the hospital since June 11 and he was tested negative for coronavirus on Thursday after he had undergone self-isolation for two weeks since contracting the infection.

Sheikh Rashid tested positive for COVID-19 on June 8.

After reaching his home, Sheikh Rashid said that Imran Khan's government will complete its five-year term. "Akhtar Mengal is not going anywhere," he added.
