PML-N President and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has filed a petition in Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking bail in assets-beyond-means case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Shehbaz Sharif on Friday filed the bail application through his lawyer Amjad Pervaiz and made NAB chairman and director general as the respondents.
A two-judge bench, led by Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar, will take up Shehbaz Sharif’s bail application on March 29 at 12:00 midday. Justice Asjad Javed Gharral is the other member of the bench.
Shehbaz Sharif, in his application, pleaded that a reference regarding money laundering has been filed and the case is under trial at the accountability court.
He said “I have been in jail for several months and the trial will take more time to complete. The NAB doesn’t want to make any recovery as it has all the record with it.”
He further said “I am Leader of the Opposition and due to imprisonment could not perform my constitutional duty. I am 70 years old and a cancer patient.”
He urged to court to order his release by accepting his bail application. He said he will regularly attend the trial court’s hearings.
