Punjab schools to open at 8:45 am under new timetable: Notification to be issued tomorrow

The School Education Department, Punjab, has decided to change the operational hours of public schools across the province.

According to 24NewsHD TV Channel, under the new schedule, schools will open at 8:45 am and close at 1:30 pm.

The official notification in this regard is expected to be issued on Monday, October 27, 2025.

Earlier, on September 1, 2025, the District Education Authority (DEA) Lahore had issued a notification outlining new timings for government schools.

Under that schedule, schools were to function from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm on regular days, while classes were to end at 12:00 pm on Fridays.

The notification also defined the second shift timings, which were set to begin at 2:00 pm and end at 5:30 pm, with Friday classes in the second shift starting at 2:30 pm.

In a separate directive, the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) earlier instructed the closure of schools severely affected by floods.

The foundation directed all outsourced institutions not to allow students to sit on the floor and to relocate classes to nearby buildings if school structures were deemed unsafe.

PEF officials assured full cooperation with the district administration in establishing relief camps for affected students and communities.

They also stated that school licensees would be held responsible for safeguarding any valuable goods placed within these relief facilities.
