Cracks in PML-N visible as party elite opines differently on key issues
Differences appear among the PML-N leadership on major issues like the extension of the Army Chief and the narrative of the party supremo.
Hamza Shehbaz Sharif, the PML-N leader and member of the Sharif family claimed that the decision to give extension to the army chief was a decision of the party leadership. He also endorsed it by saying that it was the right decision of the party.
On the other hand, PML-N Vice President and a legacy of Sharif family politics Maryam Nawaz Sharif denied accepting such decision of giving extension to General Qamar Javed Bajwa. She categorically has said that they were not a part of such a decision.
Khawaja Asif, one of the kitchen cabinet members of former premier Mian Nawaz Sharif Sunday addressed the workers convention and admitted that there were differences in the party leadership at different levels.
The former defence minister also told the workers that he could not be outspoken on the issue of differences in the party ranks so they should understand his talks in brief. He also emphasized unity and backing Nawaz Sharif to get success in the next general elections.
It is pertinent to mention here that some of the party leaders have also a different opinion to the hard narrative of Nawaz Sharif like Shahbaz Sharif who is a believer in compromising in politics. Other party bigwigs like Ahsan Iqbal, Muhammad Zubair, and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi have their different opinions on the said key issues.
And on such grounds, rivals of the PML-N especially the federal ministers like Sheikh Rasheed, Fawad Chaudhry, Murad Saeed, and Shahbaz Gill have a strong opinion that the party would be split into PML-S and PML-M in the future referring to Shahbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz Sharif respectively.
