Senator asks govt to spare an aircraft for lawmakers

A member of the Upper House of the Parliament Senator Manzoor Ahmad Kakar has asked the government to spare an aircraft for the Parliament for the convenience of the lawmakers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
A resolution prepared by Senator Manzoor Kakar will be presented in the Senate on Monday (tomorrow).
The resolution calls for according of due protocol and decorum to the legislators during their official tours abroad.
The senator who belongs to the majority party in Senate also said that if the government cannot arrange an aircraft for the Senate then it should allow the Upper House to purchase a plane from its own budget.
Manzoor Kakar maintained that in a democratic world parliament is the supreme institution.
He said the Federation’s top public officeholders and the chief minister secretariats of all the provinces have their own helicopters and planes.
He said there would be a drastic cut in lawmakers expenses and time would also be saved. “The MPs will be at ease while travelling inside the country or abroad,” he added.
