Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari attends China Film Festival

Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Uzma Bukhari attended the China Film Festival in Lahore, where she was warmly welcomed by Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Secretary of Information Tahir Raza Hamdani and Alhamra Chairman Razi Ahmed also participated in the event.

Speaking at the festival, Uzma Bukhari said the China Film Festival is like a fresh breeze for Pakistan’s film industry. She praised China’s collaboration with Pakistan in various sectors, including the film industry, calling it admirable.

Uzma Bukhari stressed that Pakistan and China could jointly undertake major projects in film and culture if they work together.

She also announced that the Punjab government has formed an 8-member committee dedicated to the revival of the film industry. She said Punjab, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, wants to see the film sector thrive just like other sectors.

She further said the grant announced for the film industry is a reflection of Maryam Nawaz’s keen interest in promoting culture.

Uzma Bukhari suggested that Pakistan and China could co-produce feature films and animation movies and called for organising joint workshops for new talent, actors, producers, and technical experts in Lahore and Beijing.

She also proposed holding joint film festivals in Lahore and Shanghai to bring the people of both countries closer.
