Please save our children! Sonya Hussyn makes powerful plea over child abuse crisis
Pakistani actress Sonya Hussyn has made an emotional appeal to authorities over violence and abuse targeting women and children.
Sharing a video on Instagram, she urged those in power to take the issue seriously and questioned how many more innocent lives must be lost before stronger action is taken. Sonya posted the video with the caption “A Plea to Our Authorities”, using the message to call for greater attention to the growing number of disturbing cases involving children and women.
In the video, she said society can no longer afford to treat such incidents as isolated crimes. She urged authorities to look beyond individual cases and investigate any networks, platforms or channels that could be enabling or profiting from the exploitation of children.
The actress also questioned whether the dark web could have any role in such crimes and called for the possibility to be properly investigated. She did not present a dark-web connection as an established fact but raised it as an area that authorities should examine.
Sonya also cited figures about violence in Pakistan, saying that more than 6,500 cases had been reported in the previous year and that over 3,000 rape cases had been officially recorded. These figures were presented by Sonya in her video and have not been independently verified here.
Her message became more emotional as she referred to several high-profile cases involving children and women, including the recent death of five-year-old Ayat Noor in Haripur.
Ayat Noor’s death has sparked widespread outrage across Pakistan. Police have arrested suspects in connection with the alleged abduction, sexual assault and killing of the child, while the investigation remains ongoing.
Sonya used the cases to question why such tragedies repeatedly dominate social media for a short time before public attention moves elsewhere. She argued that the problem requires stronger prevention, accountability and long-term action rather than temporary outrage.
She also called for greater public awareness and suggested that television channels and social-media platforms could play a role in spreading safety information. According to her message, parents and families should have easier access to guidance about protecting children from potential threats.
The actress further questioned the government’s response and called for clear action from those responsible for law enforcement and public policy. She directly appealed to political leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, asking them to make child safety and public security a priority.
Sonya also referred to the recent fire at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad while speaking about wider failures in public safety. The August 26 fire killed 14 newborn babies, according to officials and major news agencies, and prompted a high-level investigation.
By mentioning the hospital tragedy alongside cases of violence against women and children, Sonya broadened her message to include questions about emergency response, institutional safety and accountability.
Her post comes at a time when several Pakistani celebrities have publicly spoken about child abuse and violence following recent tragedies. Their statements have added pressure to an already heated public discussion over protection, justice and the response of state institutions.
