Pakistan responding effectively to border firing, dozens Afghan Taliban militants killed: Attaullah Tarar

Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar on Thursday said Pakistan was giving a “full and effective response” to what he described as unprovoked firing along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, and vowed that such action would continue.

In a statement regarding the current situation on the Pak-Afghan border, the minister alleged that the Afghan Taliban regime had resorted to “false and baseless propaganda,” claiming that narratives being circulated by Afghan sources and certain Indian social media accounts were disconnected from ground realities.

He said rumours were being spread deliberately to create confusion and fear, adding that after facing setbacks on the ground, the Afghan side was attempting to hide behind “lies and propaganda.” Tarar maintained that Pakistan would not allow anyone to misrepresent facts.

The minister stated that, according to confirmed information so far, 36 operatives linked to the Afghan Taliban had been killed in retaliatory action by the Pakistan Army, while several others were injured.

He further confirmed that two soldiers of the Pakistan Army were martyred while defending the country, and three others sustained injuries during the exchange of fire.

Tarar also said that Pakistan had recently conducted successful operations against militants described as Fitna al-Khawarij, who he said had been involved in attacks resulting in the martyrdom of innocent civilians in the region, particularly inside Pakistan.

The information minister alleged that firing from across the border in defense of these elements had exposed what he termed support for militants by the Afghan Taliban regime. He urged Afghanistan to “learn from past setbacks” and warned that any hostile intentions against Pakistan would be met with a decisive response.

“Those who cast an evil eye on Pakistan will see their malicious intentions destroyed,” he added.
