Punjab CM orders appointing neurologist in every district
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved establishment of stroke management center in every district of the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
In a meeting, chaired by Maryam Nawaz it has been decided in-principle to appoint neurologist and pediatric neurologist in every DHQ.
Maryam Nawaz ordered to immediately start telemedicine project for stroke patients.
Maryam Nawaz also directed to start nurses training program for stroke management center.
A doctor and nurse in each district should be given three-month stroke management training immediately, Chief Minister directed.
She said doctors of district hospitals will be able to contact specialists and consultants by telephone for immediate treatment of stroke patients.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered to take steps to conduct stroke management training for rescuers.
Maryam Nawaz further directed to start public awareness campaign for stroke treatment.
The importance of golden hours for stroke treatment is well-known and I will lead the awareness campaign myself, Maryam Nawaz said.
Maryam Nawas said a stroke management center will also be established in every children's hospital in Punjab.
PIMS Neurologist Dr. Qasim Bashir gave a briefing on the Stroke Management Program.
He briefed that one in four people over the age of 25 are at risk of stroke.
Awareness and training are essential for pre-hospital and post-hospital care of stroke.
