President Arif Alvi administers oath after Punjab governor refused

Parvez Elahi has been sworn in as Punjab chief minister at President's House, 24NewsHD TV channel reported. President Arif Alvi administered the oath as the governor refused to do so.
Parvez Elahi flew to the federal capital from the provincial capital in a special plane. Chaudhary Wajahat Hussain, Musa Elahi, Mahmoodur Rashid, Zain Qureshi and Murad Raas accompanied him.

The Supreme Court struck down Punjab Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari's ruling making Hamza Shehbaz chief minister.
Delivering the verdict on Parvez Elahi's petition, the top court directed issuing a notification of removal of Hamza Shehbaz from the office of the chief minister.
The apex court asked the governor to administer the oath to the new chief minister. President Alvi will administer the oath if Punjab governor refused to do so, the court ruled.

Key leaders attended the oath-taking ceremony and extended greetings to Parvez Elahi on becoming the Punjab chief minister. According to sources, Parvez Elahi is expected to meet former premier Imran Khan who nominated him for the post of chief minister.
