Second leopard attack in 24 hours leaves Jehlum Valley in terror

A  leopard has struck again in the border village of Nale Dabran of Hattian Bala, Jhelum Valley, attacking a matriculation student just 24 hours after killing an 8-year-old girl, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

The sad incident has sparked grief and fury among locals over the authorities' failure to contain the predator.

According to details, the leopard pounced on 16-year-old Mudassar Ali Awan, son of Abdul Majeed Awan, in the latest attack, leaving him with minor injuries.

Brave villagers risked their lives to chase the animal away and save the student.

The attack occurred as the community was still mourning the death of 8-year-old Javeria Awan, whose funeral prayers were offered amid heavy tears just hours earlier.

The attack has deepened fears among villagers, who say the animal has developed a dangerous appetite for human blood.

On Saturday, the same leopard had claimed the life of Javeria Awan. The grieving family laid her to rest at the local cemetery in Nale Dabran, with the entire village attending the emotionally charged burial ceremony.

The locals have expressed outrage at the Wildlife Department and Jhelum Valley administration for their failure to track or capture the leopard despite the fatal attack.

"First, we lost an innocent child, and now another life was nearly taken. How many more tragedies must we endure?" questioned a local elder during the protests. 

The administration's silence has intensified public anger, with villagers threatening larger demonstrations if immediate action is not taken.
