11 electric buses arrive in Nankana Sahib

11 electric buses have arrived in Nankana Sahib district on Saturday under Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz’s public transport initiative, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel. 

The electric buses were transported from Karachi on trailers. The residents have expressed pleasure over the arrival of electric buses as people were hit hard by high fares. 

It is pertinenent to mention that the Punjab government has announced major investments in mass transit systems, electric buses in the provincial budget 2026-27. The finance minister informed the House that Rs94 billion have been allocated for the procurement of 1,100 environment-friendly electric buses for nine divisions of Punjab to promote affordable, low-emission public transport.

More than 400 electric buses are already operational, while another 700 buses will be added to the fleet in the near future.
