AJK PM to address presser today as PPP boosts its strength in assembly
The decision whether Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq would dissolve the legislative assembly or would resign and go home is expected to be announced at a presser he (PM) would address in Muzaffarabad at 3:00 in the afternoon today, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
Sources told the 24News TV channel that the PM had already finished his consultations with his associates.
On the other hand, as efforts for an in-house change in the AJK Assembly have gathered pace, 10 members of Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry group have thrown their weight behind the PPP.
The members announced their support for the party in a meeting with party’s stalwart Faryal Talpur.
The situation has emboldened the PPP, which has now claimed that it is in a position to form a government without the support of the PML-N.
Earlier, there were reports that the party had sought support from the PML-N.
However, the party still requires the support of 27 members.
Faryal also hosted a dinner in the honour of these members at Sindh House in Islamabad on Sunday.
On Sunday, 24News TV channel reported that the PPP had claimed a majority in the legislative assembly as the government of Prime Minister Ch Anwarul Haq was in doldrums after the resignations of key ministers and the creation of forward block in the ruling party.
PPP Azad Kashmir Chapter has claimed majority in the legislative assembly with the support of 30 members of the house.
AJK minister for higher education Zafar Iqbal Malik joined the PPP during a meeting with Faryal Talpur at Zardari House Islamabad.
