The government of Sindh has barred the Pakistan Infrastructure Development Company Limited (PIDCL), a federal government firm, from working on development schemes in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

In a letter to the PIDCL, the provincial government has, however, said that there is no bar on the company from completing the former PWD projects.

The government has informed the company that at the provincial cabinet meeting, dated September 26, concern was shown over the increasing role of the company in the development projects in the province.

It has been made clear to the PIDCL that it is the provincial government’s responsibility to ensure the implementation of the Karachi Urban Infrastructure Development Package and Hyderabad Urban Infrastructure Development Package, and that in this connection, the company’s work on development schemes in the province is a violation of the understanding reached between the provincial government and the federal government.
