Raise better men: Dur-e-Fishan’s powerful message on accountability grabs attention
Pakistani actress Dur-e-Fishan Saleem has urged parents to raise boys with better values and called on grown men to take responsibility for their choices. Sharing a message on social media, she also encouraged women who have unknowingly accepted patriarchal beliefs to break the cycle and avoid passing those attitudes on to the next generation.
Dur-e-Fishan shared digital creator Abbas Bukhari’s video on her Instagram Story along with her own message about harmful attitudes that can become normalised in society. She also addressed women who may unknowingly reinforce patriarchal thinking and urged them to “break the cycle.”
In her message, the actress stressed that beliefs children learn while growing up do not have to be repeated in the next generation. She encouraged women who were raised around such attitudes to question them instead of automatically passing them on.
A major part of her message focused on raising boys. Dur-e-Fishan urged parents to “raise better men” and asked grown men to take accountability for the choices they make. She also warned against judging people only by the reputation they maintain in public.
The actress pointed out that someone may appear respectable or harmless in front of others while behaving very differently in private. Her message encouraged people to look at a person’s character and actions rather than relying only on a public image.
She also connected the discussion to the safety of women and children, urging society not to ignore behaviour that can put vulnerable people at risk. Her message emphasised the importance of education, responsible parenting and accountability.
Abbas Bukhari’s video, which Dur-e-Fishan shared, focused on violence against women and the need for men to examine their own attitudes and behaviour. He referred to official Punjab police statistics showing that 4,446 rape cases were registered in the province during the first six months of 2026. The figures were provided by the police in response to a Right to Information request.
Bukhari used the figures to discuss the fear many women experience and argued that threats do not always come from strangers. He urged men to examine harmful behaviour and questioned the attitudes that can allow violence and harassment to continue.
The video also addressed criticism surrounding the phrase “All Men.” Bukhari argued that women’s caution around men can be linked to safety concerns and called on men to understand those fears rather than dismiss them.
Dur-e-Fishan’s message added another perspective by focusing on the role of both men and women in challenging harmful social patterns. She made it clear that responsibility for a crime lies with the person who commits it, while also stressing that families and society can help prevent harmful attitudes from becoming normalised.
The same police data recorded 20,114 cases of crimes against women in Punjab during the first half of 2026, including 4,446 rape cases.
The actress’s warning also drew attention to the difference between reputation and character. Her point was that a respectable public image should not automatically be treated as proof of someone’s private behaviour.
Dur-e-Fishan’s call to women to “break the cycle” gave the message another important dimension. She urged women who have internalised patriarchal beliefs to recognise those attitudes and avoid passing them on to future generations.
