Speaker Ahmad says Punjab triples education budget to Rs46bn

The Punjab government has increased the education budget from Rs 17 billion to PKR 46 billion, a more than threefold rise, Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan announced during a ceremony at Times University in Multan.

Speaking at the event, the Speaker lauded the government for its commitment to education and called the increase a significant step forward.

Addressing the state of education in the province, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said, “It is a grave injustice that over 25 million children remain out of school. Today, our government has raised the education budget from 17 billion to 46 billion. I commend the Punjab government for tripling the allocation for education.”

He further clarified that he is not opposed to private education institutions, emphasising the importance of collaboration between public and private sectors to address the country’s educational challenges.
