In view of the growing Corona and Omicron cases in Lahore and Rawalpindi, education authorities have extended the date of 50 per cent attendance of children in schools from 1st to 6th class till February 15.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, now children will come to the primary classes in their schools with alter-day attendance policy.

Earlier, till January 31, children in primary schools had to come under 50 per cent attendance.

The school education has said that in view of the growing situation in Corona, the attendance date has been extended by two weeks.

The school education has said that the decision to extend of attendance date has been made only for Lahore and Rawalpindi and children from 7th class to 12th class will come under 100 per cent attendance.

Pertinent to mention here that yesterday the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) decided to extend curbs on schools until mid-February amid the surge in COVID-19 cases.

In the cities, where the positivity rate of the virus is less than 10 per cent, the schools will remain open. Schools will be opened for the vaccinated students with the age group of more than 12 years old.

However, in the cities where the percentage of COVID-19 cases is over 10 per cent, students will be allowed in schools on alternative days. Half of the students with the age group of less than 12 will be allowed in schools each day.

Moreover, in cities with corona cases of more than 10 per cent, all students will be allowed in school with an age of more than 12 years old.

Educational institutions will have to take all the possible steps to ensure the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
