SC returns Ayesha Nawaz’s plea over disqualification

The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday returned the petition filed by former member of the Punjab Assembly (MPA) Ayesha Nawaz, seeking review of its (SC) interpretation of article 63-A of the constitution, saying it was inadmissible for the hearing, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Raising objection to the review petition, the SC registrar told the ex-MPA that the reference, which President Arif Alvi had sent to the apex court under article-186 of the constitution for the interpretation of the article in question, was of ‘advisory’ nature, and therefore there was no ground to admit her petition for the hearing.
Ayesha, who had been elected as an MPA on PTI’s reserved seat, was de-notified by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) along with 24 other PTI ‘turncoats’ following the SC’s verdict on the presidential reference.
Ayesha and other PTI MPAs had voted for PML-N’s Hamza Shehbaz in the election for the Punjab chief minister against the party orders.
