Punjab decides to reopen restaurants

The Punjab government has decided to allow the reopening of restaurants and forwarded its recommendation in this regard to the federal government, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The decision was taken in the meeting of the Cabinet Corona Committee held in Lahore on Thursday under the chair of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

The matter is likely to get final approval from NCOC.

The Punjab government also decided to seek Centre’s permission for reopening of the hotel industry in Murree and Galiyat.

Earlier, addressing a news conference at LCCI, Lahore Restaurants Unity officials asked the government to waive rent of restaurants operating in government or semi-government buildings. Restaurants Unity Chairman Amir Rafiq said the rent for the next three months should be halved.

He also demanded to waive three months utility bills of the restaurants and there should a 50 percent cut in the utility bills of the next three months.

He also demanded to reopen the restaurants from 8am to 12 midnight for the whole week.
