Five shot dead in Lahore

An unidentified gunmen killed five people and injured a child in the Chung area of Lahore.

According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the shooting took place at the Dera of Haji Shahzad Awan.

The deceased are 40-year-old Hafiz Murtaza, 45-year-old Ghulam Mustafa, 55-year-old Malik Khadim Hussain, 18-year-old Fahad and Ali Hasnain.

The injured, identified as 5-year-old Abu Bakr, was shifted to Jinnah Hospital.

Police said the officials concerned are piecing together evidence. CCTV cameras adjacent to the crime scene are also being checked, they said, adding that the area has been cordoned off.

Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi took notice of the gruesome incident and sought a report from the top cop.

He issued directives to bring to book the culprits at the earliest. He also expressed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace.
