The political crisis in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) intensified on Tuesday as the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq was once again delayed, extending the ongoing political uncertainty in the state, 24NewsHD TV reported.
According to sources, Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq has decided not to step down and has instead resolved to face the no-confidence motion head-on.
The stalemate persists as the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), a key stakeholder in the AJK assembly, has yet to reach a consensus on a final candidate for the post of prime minister.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has announced its decision to vote in favor of the no-confidence motion against the incumbent prime minister, a move that could further shift the balance of power in the assembly.
On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is considering filing references against its lawmakers elected on the party’s ticket but are alleged to have switched loyalties.
The PTI parliamentary party has convened a crucial meeting in Islamabad this evening to discuss the evolving political situation and finalize its strategy, with key decisions expected.
Political observers said that the next 24 hours would be decisive for the future of the AJK government, as intense negotiations and shifting alliances continue behind the scenes.
