Two killers of SHO shot dead in Khyber encounter

Two under-custody accused were gunned down when a group of smugglers of non-customs-paid vehicles opened fire on the police in Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

According to details, after the funeral of SHO Riaz Hussain, police were taking the arrested accused for identification of other accused when the unidentified accused opened fire on them in the tehsil Jamrud’s Mullah Gori area. Resultantly, both the accused died on the spot.

The dead accused were later identified as Ashfaq Ahmad son of Aminullah Jan and Hidayat Khan son of Sabeela Khan.

All the assailants escaped from the scene soon after the incident. 

Earlier in the day, SHO Riaz Afridi was critically injured during a shootout with the alleged smugglers of non-customs-paid vehicles when he tried to intercept them while they were trying to smuggle NCP vehicles to the bordering Mohmand district. He later succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the hospital.

Later, the police registered a case and started a search operation to arrest the accomplices of the accused.

The police are also investigating the matter, keeping in view all angles.
