Trump orders long blockade strategy against Iran: WSJ

The Wall Street Journal has reported that US President Donald Trump has directed officials to pursue a prolonged blockade strategy against Iran.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, US President Donald Trump instructed advisers to maintain pressure on Iran’s economy and oil exports.

The report said he also ordered steps aimed at stopping ships travelling to and from Iranian ports, as Washington seeks to increase economic pressure on Tehran.

The Wall Street Journal further reported that Iran had informed mediators it required several days to consult with the country’s Supreme Leader before responding.
