Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) announced a strike in case of violation of judges’ seniority principle, 24News HD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

The PBC Executive Committee issued a declaration after holding a meeting here on Wednesday and warned about the strike.

In the declaration, the PBC said if the principle of seniority is ignored in the appointment of judges, there will be a nationwide strike

The declaration said the lawyers have been protesting against the appointment of junior judges to the Supreme Court for over a year.

As per the declaration, the meeting appreciated the services of Justice (Retired) Sarmad Jalal Usmani as a judge and welcomed him to be a member of the Judicial Commission.
