Thief dies of electrocution while stealing transformer in Narowal

A suspected thief was electrocuted and died while allegedly attempting to steal a transformer in Narowal district, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.

The incident occurred in Bhujjo Dhandsa village near Qila Ahmadabad, where residents arrived in nearby fields for agricultural work and found a man who was partially burnt lying dead close to an electricity pole.

Police and forensic teams reached the scene and collected evidence to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the death.

The body of the deceased was later shifted to the district headquarters hospital for post-mortem examination, while further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, similar incidents of theft-related accidents have been reported in the past.

Last year in March, a thief fell into a well while attempting to steal electric wire from a tubewell in a village in Arifwala, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.

Rescue 1122 teams reached the spot after receiving information and pulled the suspect out of the well in an injured condition before shifting him to a local hospital.

Police said the accused later admitted to committing the theft.

In another incident reported in March 2025, thieves stole 15 tunnel lights installed at the Nazimabad Underpass in Karachi on February 25, according to the 24NewsHD TV channel.

Police registered a first information report (FIR) on the complaint of a Karachi Municipal Corporation official, Shafi.

In the FIR, the complainant stated that the tunnel lights had been installed at a height of around 25 feet, but were stolen soon after installation.
