Some of the members of the federal cabinet who were ordered to attend the high-voltage Supreme Court proceedings on Wednesday started their task by “taking a smallish nap” in the courtroom, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

A larger five-judge apex court bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial and comprising Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Aminuddin Khan and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail was hearing the PTI’s appeal against ECP’s decision to defer elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to October 8.

On Wednesday morning, Prime Minister Shehbaz had directed members of the federal cabinet to reach the apex court at 11:30am sharp today for the hearing of the case.

As soon as the hearing was set into motion, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Abdul Shakoor fell asleep.

The atmosphere inside the courtroom hots up as the judges and lawyers exchanged arguments about the case.

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif spotted Rana Sanaullah sleeping while sitting in his chair.

The defence minister rose from his chair, went to Rana Sanaullah and woke him up.
