Punjab Assembly speaker convenes session on June 5
Punjab Assembly Speaker Ch Parvez Elahi has convened a session on June 5 at Faletti’s Hotel under Punjab Assembly Rules 235 and 2(1)(f).
According to the rules and regulations, Crystal and Royal Grand Halls of Faletti’s Hotel have been declared the Assembly Chambers.
The speaker said the seating arrangements have been made according to SOPs to protect lawmakers from COVID-19. He said that all political parties should ensure coronavirus test of their lawmakers.
A couple of weeks ago, Deputy Speaker Sardar Dost Muhammad Mazari was tested positive for coronavirus. Dost Mazari said it was interesting that his one test from a government-owned laboratory came positive while another from a private laboratory came negative.
However the deputy speaker maintained that he is perfectly alright. “I feel normal and is in a self-isolation,” he said. Dost Mazari said he will undergo another coronavirus test after a few more days. Moreover, three employees of the Punjab Assembly have also been infected by the coronavirus. They have been shifted to the quarantine centre.
