Sindh's representative Saturday accepted that his province was getting a 100 percent water quota from Punjab after visiting Panjnad Headworks.

According to 24NewsHD TV Channel, the Sindh government appointed its officer Nazir Ahmad Shahani to confirm the usage of extra water from Punjab by visiting water distributaries especially the Panjnad Headworks in the province.

After observing the flow of water for Sindh as per the approved quota by Indus River System Authority (IRSA) for his province on Saturday, Shahani accepted the stance of Punjab on water distribution as correct.

The Sindh Officer also confirmed that as per the approved quota, Sindh was getting a full quota of water about 5,000 cusecs from Panjnad Headworks.

He also thoroughly checked the discharge water of the canals of Punjab and expressed satisfaction over it.

IRSA Chairman Rao Irshad Ali Khan had already dispelled the impression that some provinces were getting an unequal portion of water, insisting that the water distributary body allocates a due share of water to every province.

He said that Sindh’s claim regarding getting a small portion of water was untrue.

He said IRSA kept the water apportionment record of all the provinces, adding that Sindh was given 71,000 cusec water as per its due share. While Punjab is being given 96,000 cusec water.

He said the measurement of water shortage was equally divided and shared by Punjab and Sindh.
