206 terrorists killed in 4,910 operations since Nov 4: DG ISPR

ISPR Director General Lt-General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that 4,910 intelligence-based operations have been carried out since November 4, 2025 in which 206 terrorists have been eliminated, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

In an interactive session with senior journalists on the country’s security issues on November 25 details of which were available now, the DG ISPR said that 67,023 operations were carried out in the country during the ongoing year; 12,857 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and 53,309 in Balochistan.

He told the journalists that the Pak-Afghan border was situated on a rugged terrain. “KP shares 1,229 kilometers long border with Afghanistan,” the DG said, adding, “There are 20 crossing points in it.”

He informed that at some places distances between one border post and the other were even 20 to 25 kilometers.

General Chaudhry said that vast resources were required for building forts and drone surveillance of the border areas.

He went on to say that unlike Punjab and Sindh, villages in KP and Balochistan straddled the border. “In these circumstances, controlling the mobility of people is a challenge,” he admitted.

The DG said that elsewhere in the world, border management was done by two neighbouring countries. “On the contrary, in the case of Afghanistan, Afghan Taliban facilitate the infiltration of militants into Pakistan,” Gen Chaudhry said, adding, “If you look at the areas adjacent to the Pak-Afghan border, you hardly see any administrative structure there, which led to governance issues.

He said that in these areas, there existed a strong nexus between politicians and terrorists, which was facilitated by the Fitna al-Khwarij.

The DG questioned, “Who in the country is responsible for stopping cross border terrorism or smuggling or illegal trade? If non-custom paid vehicles are roaming freely in your province, who is responsible to stop it?”

These vehicles, the DG went on to say, were used in suicide explosions. “Pakistan’s stance on Doha agreement with Afghanistan is very clear. Pakistan wants the Afghan Taliban to stop supporting the terrorists.”

General Chaudhry said there were sanctuaries of terrorists in Afghanistan. “Leadership of Al-Qaeda, Daesh and other terror outfits are present in the country,” he said, and added, “TTP militants receive arms and funding from these outfits which are eventually used against Pakistan.”

The DG said that Pakistan had presented proof in front of the Afghan Taliban, which they could not deny.

The DG said it was Pakistan’s demand from the Afghan Taliban to strike a deal with Pakistan under a mechanism. “If that mechanism is to be devised by a third party, Pakistan will have no objection to that,” he said, adding that the claim made by the Taliban that the TTP militants were Pakistanis, who had migrated to Afghanistan and were their guests made no sense. If they are Pakistani citizens, hand them over to us, and we will deal with them as per the local laws.”

General Chaudhry said that according to a report, the US troops while leaving Afghanistan had left behind arms and ammunitions worth $7.2 billion. “The fact is that the Afghan regime has become a threat not only for Pakistan, but for the entire world,” he said, adding, “A government and a state had to take roots in our neighbouring country after the Taliban takeover in 2021, which unfortunately did not happen.”

The DG said that the Afghan Taliban were harbouring terrorists, which posed a threat not only to Pakistan, but also to other countries in the region. “This is our demand from the Afghan Taliban that they should act like a responsible state,” Gen Chaudhry said, adding, “In Doha, the Taliban had agreed that they would not allow the terrorists to operate from their soil; the promise they have not met so far.”

He said that the Afghan Taliban were not representatives of the entire Afghan nation. 

He made it clear that Pakistan had no issues with the people of Afghanistan. “Our only issue is with the Taliban governing the country.”

The DG said that the suspension of trade ties between the two countries were linked to the security of the people of Pakistan. “Trade and bloodshed cannot go together.”

For us, he went on to say, there was no difference between a good and a bad terrorist. “Truth always reigns supreme. And we are morally on high grounds.”

General Chaudhry informed that only in November, 239,574 Afghan refugees had been sent back to their country with honour and dignity.

On India, he said that the Modi government was the victim of self-deception. “The Indian army chief’s statement that so far the operation Sindoor was merely a trailer is a clear proof that the country’s military and civilian leaders are a victim of self-deception.” “What type of trailer is this in which seven Indian jets were downed, attacks were carried out on 26 places and S-400 batteries were destroyed,” the DG wondered.

The purpose of making such false statements, he went on to say, was to calm down the Indian people who had been let down by their own army.

He said that if any country provided arms and ammunition to the Afghan Taliban, these would only fall in the hands of terrorists.

General Chaudhry said that Youtubers sitting outside the country were busy unleashing anti-state propaganda. “They and those operating social media accounts from abroad are in fact poisoning the people against the state,” he said, adding there was no doubt that these foreign accounts had a lot of impact on social media in Pakistan.

Coming back to terrorism again, the DG said that there existed a consensus among all political parties that its only solution lay in the National Action Plan (NAP). “A robust mechanism has been put in place in Balochistan for an implementation on the NAP. However, there does not exist such a mechanism in KP,” he elaborated.

General Chaudhry said that income generated from the smuggling of Iranian diesel was used for spreading terrorism.

“Before the Pakistan Army, the FC and the Balochistan government began a crackdown on smuggling, 20.5 million liters of diesel was smuggled daily. Now, the figures have come down to 2.7 million liters daily,” he informed.

The DG also informed that as part of an implementation on the NAP, police had been deployed in 27 districts of Balochistan, which made 80 per cent of Balochistan. “In Balochistan, the provincial government and the security forces are constantly engaging with the locals,” he said, adding, “Without taking such steps, terrorism cannot be controlled in the country.”
