Rainfall, thunderstorm forecast across Pakistan during next 24 to 48-hours

The Met office has issued rainfall and thunderstorm alert in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Balochistan’s various districts during the next 24 hours which will persist by May 4, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

The Met office claimed that a series of westerly winds were expected to enter the country from May 1. Thunderstorms are expected in Kashmir, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum from May 1-4. 

The rain and hailstorm are expected in Mandi Bahauddin, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sahiwal, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad and Toba Tek Singh. 

Thunderstorms and rain are expected in KP’s Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Waziristan, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Karak, Khyber, Peshawar, Mardan, Kurram and Gilgit-Baltistan. The rain and isolated hailstorm are also likely in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar. In Sindh, dust storm and rain with thunder are likely in Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, Khairpur, Tharparkar, Sanghar, Umerkot. In Balochistan dust storm and rain is likely in Zhob, Khuzdar, Musakhel and Barkhan. 

The PDMA spokesperson has directed concerned agencies such as WASA, Punjab Police and Civil Defense to stay vigilant and make necessary preparations. Citizens are suggested to remain indoors and avoid open spaces during thunderstorms to protect themselves from lightning.
