US envoy urges de-escalation in region during meeting with Pakistan's Deputy PM Ishaq Dar

US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker met with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar Wednesday to discuss the rapidly evolving regional situation, amid heightened tensions between Pakistan and India.

According to Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, the meeting focused on recent regional developments, with Deputy Prime Minister Dar reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to regional peace and security, while also making it clear that the country would continue to safeguard its national interests.

The US side expressed a clear desire for de-escalation, said a State Department spokesperson, emphasizing that Washington is committed to maintaining contact with both countries as the situation unfolds.

The diplomatic engagement comes at a critical time, with international stakeholders stepping up efforts to prevent further escalation in South Asia.
