Good news for the people as issuance of normal passport has been reduced from 21 days to 14 days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The key decision along with several other important ones were taken for the convenience of citizens at a meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State Talal Chaudhry in Islamabad on Thursday.

Addressing the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi said a complete cashless system will be introduced in passport offices. He directed to finalize the system for issuing business passports soon.

The meeting decided to make the system for delivering passports to the doorsteps more effective.

Mohsin Naqvi has given the task of introducing a complete cashless system in passport offices within 15 days.

He said the end of cash payments will eliminate the agent mafia and provide convenience to citizens. 

Mohsin Naqvi directed to expedite work on issues related to business passports issuance.

Establishment of a passport authority is very important for improving the passport system and public convenience, Mohsin Naqvi maintained.

The meeting was briefed that normal passports were previously being delivered in 21 days but now these will be issued in 14 days. 

Federal Interior Secretary, Director General Passport and Immigration and relevant officials also attended the meeting.
