Heat-stricken people demand end to prolonged, unannounced loadshedding  

Prolonged and unannounced power outages in most parts of the country, and that too in extreme heat and humidity have made the lives of people miserable, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.   

Three to five hours of loadshedding has been reported from cities, while in rural areas, the duration has reached eight hours.

In some areas, there are reports of power cuts after every one hour.

The shortfall in the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) region has reached 1,000 megawatts. 

Two hours of continuous loadshedding in most parts of the provincial capital is testing people’s patience. 

The situation is worse in Rawalpindi where the duration of loadshedding has exceeded seven hours.

People have demanded an end to loadshedding, saying their routine life has been badly disrupted by these power cuts.
