Accountability court issues arrest warrants for Aslam Raisani
Nawab Aslam Raisani – former Balochistan chief minister – became the latest politician to face the immediate threat of arrest as an accountability court in Quetta on Wednesday issued bailable warrants for him, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The court issued arrest warrants after he failed to appear in person for the hearing of a case pertaining to alleged corruption in the funds reserved for the restoration of heritage sites in Mehrgarh.
However, the accountability court judge accepted the pleas filed by his brother Nawab Lashkari Raisani and former finance secretary Dostain Jamaldini.
Meanwhile, arrest warrants were also issued for Abdul Nabi Raisani – a close relative of the former chief minister.
Although Aslam Raisani had served as chief minister being a PPP member, he was elected to the current Balochistan Assembly as an independent. But he too had earlier announced that he would resign from the assembly just like the PDM members.
