Rs12b burden on consumers as Nepra raises tariff again

July 30, 2022 01:57 PM

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has sanctioned yet another raise in the electricity price which is 50 paisas per unit, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Releasing its decision on Saturday, the Nepra said the latest increase in the power tariff was in connection with the quarterly adjustment.

The latest raise will not impact the lifeline consumers and it will be effective from September 1 and will remain in effect for three months.

The new electricity rate will put an additional burden of Rs12 billion on the consumers.

Industrial consumers, however, already availing a relief package will be exempted from this fresh increase.
