Suspected gang shooter killed in CCD encounter in Gujranwala
A suspected member of an extortion and criminal gang was killed during an alleged encounter with the Crime Control Department in the Gakhar Mandi area of Gujranwala, a CCD spokesperson said.
The deceased was identified as Umar Butt, who, according to the department, was wanted in kidnapping, murder, extortion and other serious criminal cases.
The spokesperson claimed that Umar Butt was the main shooter of a gang allegedly headed by Fahdi Jatt and that at least 13 serious cases had been registered against him.
According to the CCD, Fahdi Jatt is currently residing in the United States and allegedly operates the extortion network from abroad. The department said he demanded protection money from traders and directed Umar Butt to open fire on those who refused to pay.
The CCD Gujranwala Region said red warrants had been issued for Fahdi Jatt and that legal proceedings were underway through Interpol to secure his arrest and extradition.
