Following the PTI chairman’s announcement regarding Punjab Assembly dissolution at the conclusion of his long march in Rawalpindi, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has directed its PA members to reach Lahore and keep in contact with the party, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

After a sudden announcement by PTI Chief Imran Khan that his party did not want to become part of this corrupt system and he would order to dissolve his party’s governments in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces, the PDM parties which are ruling in the Centre have become active to stave off the Punjab Assembly’s dissolution.

According to sources, the PML-N has directed all its Punjab Assembly members to reach Lahore and asked them to keep in touch with the party.

On Tuesday, former president and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari held a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at PM House. Both the leaders discussed current political scenario with special focus on Punjab. They pondered over ways to counter the strategy of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan to prevent the dissolution of Punjab Assembly and considered various options to defeat his strategy aimed at calling for early elections.

Both the leaders discussed various options including bringing a no-confidence motion and imposition of governor’s rule in Punjab.

Former president Zardari assured complete support to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) in the Punjab Assembly.

In its parliamentary party meeting chaired by Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz a couple of days ago, the PML-N discussed different options to bar the PTI-PMLQ alliance (which is ruling the province) from dissolving the assembly.

The meeting considered different options including tabling a no-trust motion against Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, imposition of governor’s rule, the governor seeking a vote of confidence from the CM, and requesting the apex court to take up Hamza’s review petition on the Punjab CM election case, etc.
