What could be termed a historical decision, a court in Chakwal on Sunday imposed Rs4 million in fine on a police official for registering a false narcotics recovery case against two men, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Civil Judge Talagang Malik Abdus Sattar pronounced the verdict against ASI Tajammul Jahangir.
In his remarks, the judge said that Tajammul was found guilty of abuse of power by registering a false and fabricated case against Azhar Iqbal and Irfan Ahmad.
The judge also observed that implicating people in false cases amounted to a violation of basic human rights. “Those playing with people’s dignity and honour deserve to be punished.”
