Delegation visits PCSW Lahore to attend campaign against gender violence

As part of the ongoing campaign against gender-based violence, a delegation of community leaders and women, organized by the Christian Study Center (CSC) Rawalpindi and its partner organizations, visited the Department of Women Development Punjab (WDD) and the Punjab Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) Lahore for an exposure tour and participated in an awareness session. 

The session was attended by Ejaz Ahmed Joiya, Secretary of the Punjab Commission on the Status of Women; Director Waheed Iqbal; Admin Officer Shabbir Hussain; Section Officer Arooj Bhatti; Head of Punjab Women’s Helpline 1043 Madiha Munawar; and Imran Javed, Law Officer. 

The purpose of this study tour and session was to provide comprehensive awareness to women about the department’s services, laws against harassment, the procedure for filing complaints, safety mechanisms, women-friendly facilities, and effective ways to raise awareness at the community level. 

During the visit, Law Officer Imran Javed and Madiha Munawar from the Department of Women Development Punjab gave the delegation a detailed briefing. The delegation was provided with information about the department’s role, the implementation of laws, women safety measures, community protection mechanisms, and the effective use of helplines.

The women activists and community leaders included in the Christian Study Center delegation described the study tour as highly beneficial and informative. They praised the services and initiatives for women by Secretary of Women Development Dr. Usman Ali Khan and Parliamentary Secretary for Women Development Sadia Taimur. They stated that through this session, not only did they gain a better understanding of the women’s protection system, but they would also be able to spread effective and meaningful awareness within their own communities.
