Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Jamsheed Iqbal Cheema Saturday announced going Supreme Court against the decision of rejecting his nomination papers from the Returning Officer of NA-133.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the PTI candidate with the party head of Punjab province Ejaz Chaudhry and his covering candidate Musarat Jamsheed Cheema held a joint press conference and announced challenging the RO’s decision.
The Returning Officer of the by-elections in NA-133 Lahore Syed Basit Ali rejected the nomination papers of the PTI candidate by the reason of his proposer and seconders were not voters of the same constituency on Saturday morning.
Later, holding a press conference, Cheema claimed that both his proposer and seconder mentioned in the nomination papers were residents of the same constituency.
Cheema said that no law could take the right away to contest election to him because they would succeed to get the permission of contesting by-elections from the court.
The PTI’s nominated candidate also advised his workers that they should speed up the preparations for the elections with more energy and enthusiasm.
Ejaz said that the opposition party, the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) was trying to hide its defeat by highlighting technical points before the RO in by-elections against PTI.
The PTI Punjab president said the proposer of his candidate was a resident of NA-133 and it was a mistake of NADRA to mention his vote in some other constituency.
He said they would not run away from the constituency and would fight their case in the Lahore High Court and the Supreme Court to get their right to contest the election.
