Bilawal urges PDM to resign before long march
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Tuesday urged the opposition alliance, the PDM to tender resignations before starting the long march against the government.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the PPP chairman addressed a press conference at Kashmoor district and said he prayed for the success of the PDM because the PPP wanted to end Imran Khan’s government quickly.
Bilawal said it would be damaging for any political struggle against the government that a long march being announced every week and then the decision being taken back.
The PPP chairman said he thought the PDM leadership would not hold the long march without tendering their party members’ resignations from the Senate and National Assembly and provincial assemblies.
He strongly criticised Imran Khan-government and said due to incompetency, Pakistan was facing historical high inflation with a shortage of food items.
On the issue of media restrictions, Bilawal ensured to support media resistance and to challenge the new laws at every platform including the court.
Bilawal said the PPP had rejected the proposed Pakistan Media Development Authority (PDMA) bill from the sitting government and considered it a ‘Black Law’ to pressurise the media.
The PPP chairman said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was enhancing media restrictions day by day and the PDMA was a direct attack on it.
He also demanded early elections that should be held on a fair and transparent basis. He also said that due to the democratic struggle of the PPP, the opposition had won in the by-elections.
